What do Microsoft, Jamba Juice, Oracle, and Plus Delta All Have in Common?

We are proud to announce that we are number 1498 on the list of 5000 fastest-growing private companies in America as rated by Inc. Magazine! The announcement was made in August that we had made the list by obtaining approximately 250% growth during the rating period. We were so happy to know that we had made the list – especially during these economic times!

Jeremy and I went to DC in September to accept our award. Inc. Magazine has developed a conference around the 500/5000 list and I recommend all entrepreneurs check it out (regardless of whether you’re on the list or not)! The conference is packed with great speakers including Tony Hsieh and Jim Collins (I’ll write about those highlights next) as well as fabulous break-outs and sponsors. Oh, and did I mention the opportunity to be surrounded by 5,000 of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs?

The two-day event was closed out with an amazing awards gala. A black-tie event where Jeremy and I got a chance to pick-up our award.

Receiving our award from the publisher

After everyone got their awards, there was a group photo. Can you see me and Jeremy? We’re in the third row from the back – ha ha.

Inc Award Ceremony 2

The evening was finished off with a party – entrepreneur style! It was really fun!

Sadly, the only thing that didn’t rock was the band. It was an 80’s cover band that highlighted the worst aspects of that decade (think Toni Basil meets Cyndi Lauper rolled into Culture Club).

I looked at the picture of Sam and Jeremy receiving the Inc 500/5000 award and tried to imagine what it must have felt like for them. And I immediately went to my own feeling of pride, recognition of the hours and hours of hard work, planning, never tiring, always trying new approaches, attention to details, sharing frustrations but never frustrated and the list goes on. What is really remarkable is the steady hand at the tiller. Both Sam and Jeremy have always been the strong hand(s), guiding, nudging in the right direction. I have had the wonderful pleasure of being involved nearly from the beginning and it has been a rich experience. Each project, each plan and approach that I have worked on with Plus Delta has been an enrichment of my business and personal life. Plus Delta’s receipt of the Inc 500/5000 award is both a surprise and not a surprise – it is a surprise because of its timing – during a massive downturn in an economy that is exceedingly difficult even for established organizations. It is not a surprise because of the people in Plus Delta: wonderful, warm, intellectually alive co-workers who bring enormous and varied talent to the table and who are always open to helping with ideas as well as guidance. Plus Delta is a fantastic organization to work with. Our projects are stimulating and often difficult but always rewarding. You have every right to be proud as well as inspired by the recognition. We look forward to a bright future “Improving performance through Positive Change(R)”. Well-deserved.
